Quick Steps: Request Change to Existing PTA

Who does this?  Department Staff

When?  A change is needed to an existing PTA (i.e. changes to attributes, Owning Org, Award Range, Key members, Burdening rates, etc.).

How?  By completing portions of the new PTA request form (form varies by fund type) to highlight changes. Identify and email the completed form to the appropriate central office contact.

Request Change to Existing PTA (3 steps)

Click on the appropriate link below to access the form that corresponds with your Project type. Download and save the form to your local computer:

Note:  Use the same form used to Request New PTA.
  1. Sponsored Research PTA Request Forms (multiple varieties on Office of Sponsored Research website)
  2. Form 1 (Capital Projects requiring a jurisdictional permit and plan check)
  3. Capital Projects PTA Request (when Facilities form 1 is NOT required)
  4. Request for Establishing a New Service Center
  5. Fund Accounting PTA Request (for Other Designated, Operating Budget, Expendable or Endowment Gift PTAs)

Complete the form by:

Available Resources:  PTA Attributes & Definitions
  1. Entering the Project, Project-Task, or Award number that you wish to make the changes to.


  2. Note to Mass Changes: To make the same change to ROLE-related attributes (i.e. Project Manager / Principal Owner, Task Manager / Principal Owner, Award Manager / Principal Owner) or PTA owning organizations for 10 or more PTAs, use the PTA Role / Owning Org Update Form [link].

  3. Fill in ONLY those fields that you want to change.

Submit the completed form to the appropriate contact as defined by the project type:

  1. Submit Sponsored Research Projects PTA change requests to the Office of Sponsored Research School / Administrative Representative.
  2. Submit Form 1 PTA change requests to the Department of Capital Planning via the online Form 1 system.
  3. Submit Capital Projects PTA change requests (capital projects not requiring a Form 1) to Capital Accounting [link to main contact list].
  4. Submit Other Designated, Operating Budget, Expendable or Endowment Gift PTA change requests to Fund Accounting [link to main contact list].

What happens next?

  • Requesters will receive an e-mail acknowledgement when their request has been completed.
    • Allow 2-5 days for processing after the approved request has been received by the appropriate central office contact.
    • Changes to PTA owning organizations are input ONLY at the end of each month. No confirming e-mail will be sent for these changes.
  • It is then incumbent upon the requester receiving the e-mail notification to inform other individuals (i.e. Project or Task Owners / Managers) of the addition or change to PTA.
